David's Story

6/25/2010

We camped in Many Glacier at the base of a mountain with a giant, snowy "E" shining down on us.  It was a comforting symbol to have for those six nights.  It is also a reminder of the struggle as we try to grapple with the emotions that we are dealing with.

The abundant wildlife that we have seen:  grizzlies, bighorn sheep, coyotes, moose--has been astounding.  Even the locals have envied us our good fortune during our stay.

We've had two really astonishing hikes--one to a lake that required us to cross big snow fields en route, and another where we got to see 3 glaciers.  I'm looking forward to the continuing adventure.

    Soccer in the wilds
It looks like the World Cup is not limited to So Afr! I hear the buzz of those infernal horns as the US (0) and Ghana (1) play and see wonderful game underway in the wilds (and quiet) of Many Glacier.

I think of your struggle every day. It is still and will always be absolutely unimaginable. You are in my prayers.

    Luv U
It was so good to hear from you after the communication blackout. Pictures are great. We need to have a film festival when you get back. We are soooo glad you are able to be surrounded by the beauty of nature. It looks awe inspiring. We pray that your spirit is being lightened and your soul is being refreshed. Love you, as you very well know. Post again soon.

    E
I LOVE the giant snowy E. Praying for all of you as you enjoy this grand adventure while acknowledging your pain. Laughter and Tears - I think that's really about all there is that matters. As I read ya'll's blog I am transported back to our summer last year. Not a once in a lifetime, but a never in a lifetime for most folks. Have fun.
