Gather Around the Table: Conversations for Renewing the Church
You are invited over the coming months to “gather around the table” in many ways – intentional conversation, nourishing worship, and shared ministry – and to take a closer look at how we are a faith community together.
A copy of the recommendation, as well as a "detail and questions" can be downloaded here:
There will be discussions on Sunday, June 22 after worship, and Wednesday, June 25 after dinner. We are also inviting Sunday Schools to consider hosting a member of the council or Alban conference traveler during some or all of their Sunday School hour on June 22 to spend some time walking people through the proposal and listening for comments and questions.
The proposal invites the congregation over the coming 15-18 months to “gather around the table” in many ways – intentional conversation, nourishing worship, and shared ministry – and to take a closer look at how we are a faith community together. The focus of the extended conversation will consider major aspects of the church (decision making, leadership, staffing and finances) in order to renew our life together as a caring community of equality and grace.
The church will vote in a special business meeting whether or not to approve the recommendation on June 29 at noon.
In all of the ways that we cherish Glendale, we stand at the opportunity to do good planning for our future together. Each of us is invited to be part of this process with the fervent hope that we will nurture our community, honor one another, affirm our covenant and trust the work of the Holy among us.
