Reflecting on Hospitality with Acclaimed Author Marjorie Thompson on November 3
When: Sunday, November 3
What: Joint Sunday School class and Pot luck lunch with conversation after worship
The church council has adopted the theme of Radical Hospitality as our guiding emphasis this year. As a way of kicking off this emphasis and in an effort to help the whole Glendale community gain a sense of what it means for us to be a place of radical hospitality, we have invited author and speaker, Marjorie Thompson to join us on November 3. After our first Sunday breakfast, which begins at 9 am, youth and adult Sunday School classes are invited to a joint class to hear Marjorie speak to us on the spirituality of hospitality. After worship, the church council is hosting a pot luck lunch where Marjorie will guide us in a time of conversation and unpacking what hospitality means for Glendale Baptist Church.
This is a very special opportunity to learn from and be in fellowship with Marjorie Thompson. Marjorie is a sought after speaker worldwide. She is best known as the author of the book, Soulfeast: An Invitation to the Christian Spiritual Life, which has been a best seller since 1995 and is still in print. She is the primary architect of the Companions and Christ series, a highly acclaimed small group resource. She studied Christian spirituality at Yale with Henri Nouwen and is associated with Parker Palmer and his Center for Courage and Renewal through which she offers training in the Circle of Trust process.
This promises to be a wonderful day in the life of Glendale Baptist. Please make plans to join us!
