Amy Mears
Pastor

Amy Mears has served as one of the pastors of Glendale Baptist Church since November, 2004. For the decade prior to coming to Glendale, she served as Chaplain at University Hospital in Augusta, Georgia. During her seminary days, she served as Associate Pastor of Buechel Park Baptist Church in Louisville, KY. She is a South Carolinian, with an undergraduate degree from Furman University, and MDiv and PhD degrees from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Amy and her children find grace, encouragement and much joy in being members of this community of faith. Amy notes that, “Pastors and their families are sometimes not able to be a part of the community. Glendale offers the space for us to grow and live, not just to serve here. ‘The Village’ helps us rear our children; other members of the community feel as called as I do to bring their abilities and energies into the church house. It is a beautiful, living miracle, this church.”
Amy enjoys being an adjunct faculty member at Vanderbilt University Divinity School, working together with ecumenical efforts to benefit Nashville, and being a mentor for Field Education students. She and the family enjoy backpacking, kayaking and family sports; trips to the beach and the mountains; and laughing together.
