In keeping with historic Baptist principles, the governance of Glendale Baptist Church resides in the members of the church, acting as a collected body.  This governance is carried out through the Church Council, which is elected by and accountable to the whole congregation.  The Church Council's authority at once derives from and is granted to it by the congregation.

The members of the church meet to transact the church's business each quarter in regular business meetings and, as necessary, in special called business meetings.  The Church Council, in partnership with the professional staff, is responsible for leading the church in planning, implementing, and evaluating the many facets of the church's ministry.  In the interim times between business meetings, they are also responsible for managing and reporting the daily business of the church to its members.  The Council submits major decisions concerning budgets, staffing, programs, and ministries to the church for deliberation and approval.
